The word sak was born in the 11th century and comes from the Hebrew “SAK” which names a coarse fabric made from goat hair. It comes from a Hebrew word from the language Le Baga, Provençal artisanal handbag. The first handbags were intended to carry objects or food and could be carried by both men and women. They were then often made of fairly coarse fabric. It was not until the Middle Ages that we saw the appearance of the first bags then called purses. They owe their appearance to the fact that clothing did not have pockets. We then put a rosary, money or a handkerchief there. You had to wait until the 20th century for the bag to evolve, it became a fashion accessory in its own right that you could match with your outfit and change according to your mood.
